Suburban Virginia Case File
A documentary event

Don't F*ck with Greg

He was a regular neighbor with dirty blond hair, glasses, and a hunch. Then the hunch became a phone trail, a ripped-out doorbell, a chase across continents, and the strangest loss-prevention job lead on the block.

Location Quiet Virginia suburb
First clue A note that felt too neat
Breakthrough Phone check-in data
Last signal Saudi Arabia, bound for Indonesia
"The note said goodbye. The phone said he was still moving. Target said, can you start in loss prevention?"

The premise

The neighbor vanished. Greg refused the easy answer.

A wife, a farewell note, a neighborhood ready to move on. Greg was the one person who kept reading the scene wrong, because the scene was wrong.

Greg

Slight of frame, dirty blond hair, glasses, spreadsheet brain, and the fatal flaw of every great supersleuth: he cannot let a bad story stand.

The note

It was supposed to make the disappearance feel settled. Instead, it made the whole neighborhood feel staged.

The call

Greg phoned the missing man's employer and asked the question nobody else had asked: when and where did the phone last check in?

The doorbell

Explaining the plot to his own wife, Greg saw the camera and realized the suspect could be listening. He tore it loose and threw it.

The trail

One neighborhood secret became an international route.

The disappearance

A suburban neighbor is gone, a carefully worded note is left behind, and the official story asks everyone to stop asking questions.

The phone ping

Greg follows the corporate breadcrumbs and learns the phone is not dead. It is moving.

The airport path

The signal points away from Virginia and toward a route through Saudi Arabia, with Indonesia waiting at the end.

The camera moment

Greg understands the case has ears. A doorbell camera turns the investigation into a race.

The capture

Greg's trail helps authorities catch the missing neighbor before the story can disappear overseas. The neighbor is sent away to get the help he needs.

The job offer

Another neighbor hears how Greg solved it. That neighbor, a recruiter who knows a Target manager, recognizes the obsessive pattern work, the nerve, and the receipts, then helps Greg turn a neighborhood hunch into a loss-prevention role watching the self-checkout cameras.
